Dear Friend:

Allow me to take you on a never-ending adventure in the fascinating world of Stamp Philately that covers the beautiful stamps of the world. This adventure will show you how interesting and educational the subject of stamps can be and show you the world of enjoyment that collectors have experienced for over 100 years. The stamps of the world have commemorated people, country landscapes, and events of the world that people cherish. Countries like Japan, Canada, Australia, Germany, Ecuador, and the United States are but a few of the many countries that know how to uniquely commemorate people, points of interest, scenic landscapes, events, animation, science, insects, animals, trains, planes, fruits, gardens, actors, politicians, and an endless list of interesting topics.

Here at Do You Know This Stamp, we have brought together the reasons for the commemoration of stamp subjects and the inspiration which launched the stamp to be issued along with factual and interesting stories never revealed before this site was created. Literary artists that complete extensive research on the subject and bring together a synopsis of the commemoration in an entertaining and delightful way write the leaflets we create. This site fills a void for the understanding of stamps for the general public and the philatelic world. At our site you will find a wealth of information.

For the non-collector, this site will increase your understanding of stamps. For the collector, this site will provide detail descriptions that can be used to display information about their stamps.

If not a stamp collector and you desire to start, we suggest that you contact Philatelic Societies of your collecting interest. This will enhance your enjoyment so that you can share your interests with others that share your interests. Many collectors of stamps have gathered together in various philatelic societies. The members of these societies cover a diverse group from all peoples of the world. These societies are non-political and non-commercial with only one objective: to promote an intelligent interest in the philately of stamps of the world. Members desire to obtain as much information as possible about the stamps that they collect can be found on our site and from members that freely share and provide information to each other. Generally publications are distributed to members to provide information on new issues gathered by the society. Most publications contain descriptive and illustrated information about newly issued stamps, often before they are listed in major stamp catalogs. In addition, there are many articles written by members, about very useful information on a particular subject of lasting value.

Annual membership fees to these societies are generally a bargain, when you consider the benefits you receive. The fees cover mostly their research costs and publications. Some societies maintain extensive libraries of information about world stamps, including hard-to-find books, and articles that can be borrowed by mail. Some have expertization service that can examine your stamp or cover to determine whether it is genuine or a forgery. Back issues of the publications can be purchased if available. Some societies have their back issues on CD, which you can view and read on your computer.

We recommend that you contact the societies that offer the specialty you want. A partial list of societies that you can do a Google search follows:

APS (American Philatelic Society)
ISJP (International Society of Japanese Philately)
AAMS (American Air Mail Society)
USCS (Universal Ship Cancellation Society) PF (Perfin Club)

Sincerely.
